The Washington Commanders will have quarterback Jayden Daniels back on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. If Daniels had his way, he wouldn't have missed the last two games against the Raiders and Falcons. Washington went 1-1 in those games, but the offense wasn't the issue in last week's loss to Atlanta.

Marcus Mariota played well in relief of Daniels, but Washington is relieved to have Daniels back. Daniels sprained his left knee in a Week 2 loss at Green Bay, and the Commanders held him out of the last two games before fully clearing him this week.

Naturally, whenever a mobile quarterback is coming off a leg injury, questions persist about whether the quarterback is fully recovered. While Daniels is cleared, will there be any limitations with the knee? Mobility is a huge part of his game, so if he's slowed at all, it could impact Washington's offensive game plan.

Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is not concerned.

"Yeah, no, that's, I think that's really why we were overly cautious with him because we didn't want to put him out there until he can be Jayden, and that's what he's going to be, and that's how he's going to play," Kingsbury said on Thursday.

This is precisely what head coach Dan Quinn has maintained all along. If Daniels were limited in any capacity, he would not play. It helps to have a trusted veteran like Mariota who can run the exact same offense.

Is Kingsbury concerned about Daniels' ability protect himself?

"It's instinctive," he said. "I mean, guys like him and Kyler [Murray], who's an undersized player that I was with in Arizona, I mean, they play that way their entire life. They always, in Jayden’s case, been a little slimmer than the other guys, and Kyler’s a little smaller, and they know how to protect themselves, and they know where to find the soft spot, and they've played that way their entire lives. And so, it's like 10,000 hours put into it."

In other words, there will be no limitations on Washington's playbook against a stout Chargers' defense this week.
