The latest expert projections for the 2025 NCAA Division I baseball tournament are in, and things are looking good for the Clemson Tigers.
Clemson (44-15 overall) won its third game in four days at the 2025 ACC Baseball Championship in Durham on Saturday by taking down No. 1 seed Georgia Tech in the tournament semifinals. The Tigers will face No. 3 seed North Carolina in the championship game today at noon ET.
The surge by Erik Bakich's team is all but certain to have made Clemson a lock as a top-16 national seed and a regional host for the NCAA Tournament. Is a top eight seed still in play?
Clemson would need to beat UNC in today's ACC title game to secure it, but if they do, those cards are very much on the table -- at least according to the latest expert projections. Securing a top eight seed would ensure the Tigers of hosting a super regional, if they win their four-team, double-elimination on-site regional.
Here are the latest postseason projections for Clemson as of Sunday morning.
Baseball America projection: Clemson is No. 8 overall seed, hosting Dallas Baptist (40-16), Cincinnati Bearcats (32-24), and Fairfield Stags (38-17) in Clemson Regional at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
Dallas Baptist, ranked No. 19 in the Coaches Poll, was eliminated from the CUSA tournament by Jacksonville State on Saturday. Cincinnati was eliminated by West Virginia in the Big 12 tournament on Thursday, while Fairfield will play Rider for the MAAC championship and automatic bid today.
D1 Baseball projection: Clemson is No. 11 overall seed, hosting UCLA Bruins (42-15), Kentucky Wildcats (29-24), and Bryant Bulldogs (38-15-1) in Clemson Regional.
UCLA is playing for the Big Ten championship against Nebraska today. In the Bruins' case, a host site regional is likely at stake for the regular season co-champions. Kentucky bowed out on the first day at the SEC Tournament but is No. 36 in RPI with a strength of schedule ranked ninth. Bryant will face Binghamton for the American East conference's automatic bid.
On3 projection: Clemson is No. 9 overall seed, hosting Alabama Crimson Tide (41-16), Rhode Island Rams (38-20) and Wright State (38-19) in Clemson Regional.
Alabama will enter the NCAA tournament after notching 40 victories in the regular season. The Crimson Tide are ranked 21st in the Coaches Poll and were eliminated in their second game at the SEC Tournament by Tennessee.
Rhode Island defeated George Mason, 4-1, in the Atlantic 10 conference championship game on Saturday to lock up an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Wright State, the Horizon League champion, did the same after taking down Milwaukee in its conference title game Saturday.
On3's Jonathan Wagner said of Clemson:
Heading into Sunday, Clemson was No. 7 in the college baseball RPI with a 44-15 overall record. The Tigers are No. 20 in strength of schedule rankings and are 10-9 against Quad 1 opponents, 14-5 against Quad 2 teams, 9-1 against Quad 3 teams, and 11-0 against Quad 4 opponents. North Carolina is one spot below Clemson at No. 8 in RPI.
Clemson will learn its postseason regional in the NCAA Tournament on Monday, May 26 beginning at noon ET. The selection show will be televised on ESPN2. Regionals will begin Friday, May 30 and run through June 2, with Super Regionals Friday-Monday, June 6-9. The Men's College World Series in Omaha begins June 13.
