The Chicago Bears defeated the New Orleans Saints, 26-14, which marked their fourth straight win after starting 0-2 under new head coach Ben Johnson.
The Bears defense was the story of the game with former defensive coordinator Dennis Allen battling his former team, where he previously served as head coach and defensive coordinator. And his Chicago defense put on quite a show. According to Pro Football Focus, the Bears totaled four sacks, three interceptions, one fumble recovery, six forced incompletions and a 36.8% pressure percentage. Chicago allowed just 14 points against the Saints, which was more than enough to win.
Following the game, cameras caught Johnson addressing his team after the big win as they continue to stack victories after their disappointing start. While Johnson made it clear there are several game balls to go around, the first one, no doubt, goes to Allen for his unit's dominant outing.
Allen was surrounded by his players, who were cheering for his accomplishment over his former team, and Chicago's defensive coordinator made it known that
"Sometimes the good lord just has a freaking plan for you that you don't know about. Sometimes you ain't good enough somewhere else. That's perfectly fine. I love being here. I love being with this group of guys. You guys work your damn a-- off. But four ain't enough. Moving on to the next one. Let's go get that next one."
The Bears will hit the road to battle the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8, where they're looking to win their fifth straight against a Ravens team that has struggled this season. But it's going to require another team effort to get the road victory and keep this momentum going.
