Sunday is game day in Iowa City, Iowa, and it marks a special homecoming for Caitlin Clark. The Indiana Fever guard is returning to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, the place she called home during her historic college career, for an exhibition matchup with the Fever against the Brazilian National Team.

Clark starred at the University of Iowa from 2020 to 2024, becoming one of the most celebrated players in women’s college basketball history. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Clark was a McDonald’s All-American at Dowling Catholic High School before making her mark with the Hawkeyes.

The Fever have been building excitement for this game for weeks, with players and staff alike expressing their anticipation. On Sunday morning, the team added to the buzz by posting a simple four-word question on social media:

"Iowa, are you ready?"

Clark was a unanimous First-Team All-American as a sophomore and made history by becoming the first player in NCAA Division I women's basketball to lead the nation in both points and assists in a single season.

In her junior year, Clark won National Player of the Year honors and led Iowa to its first NCAA Tournament championship game. The Hawkeyes fell to LSU in a high-scoring contest, 102–85.

Clark repeated as National Player of the Year in her senior season, once again leading Iowa back to the national championship game. The Hawkeyes lost to South Carolina, 87–75. During her senior campaign, she set the NCAA Division I women's records for both career and single-season points and 3-pointers.

The Indiana Fever opened their preseason Saturday with a 79-74 overtime victory over the Washington Mystics. Sophie Cunningham led the team with 21 points and eight rebounds. Clark, however, did not play due to a leg injury. Her status for Sunday’s exhibition game in Iowa City remained uncertain as of the postgame on Saturday.

The Fever will tip off their 2025 regular season on May 17, when they host Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. That matchup is expected to draw major attention as the two were the WNBA’s most high-profile rookies a season ago.
