The Green Bay Packers released their full, 17-game schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday night. Matt LaFleur’s team will play six games against the NFC North, four games against the NFC East, four games against the AFC North, one game each against the third-place finisher from the NFC West and NFC South and one game against the third-place finisher from the AFC West.
What’s important about a schedule? Players and fans generally care about different things. Most players want to know about Week 1, the bye week and trips to warmer climates. Fans want to know about the big games, important road trips and tough stretches.
Here’s what to know about the 2025 schedule:
The Detroit Lions, at Lambeau Field. Starting fast is crucial. For the first time since 2018 and the first time in the Matt LaFleur era, the Packers will get a Week 1 game at Lambeau Field. But with the privilege comes a great challenge. The Lions won 15 games and the NFC North last season and have beaten the Packers six times in the last seven tries. Ideally, a team would want to play Jared Goff outdoors in the cold. But getting the Lions in the first game of the post-Ben Johnson and post-Aaron Glenn era could be advantageous.
Early, in Week 5. The Packers will break after only four games, meaning a grueling 13-game stretch awaits coming out of the Week 5 bye. That's tough, no matter the team. But consider this: the Eagles had a Week 5 bye after a 2-2 start last season and then went on to win 12 of their final 13 regular season games and all three playoff games during their title run. An early bye is tough, but not insurmountable. Playing the Lions on a Thursday in late November will provide a "mini-bye" ahead of the final stretch.
The Packers have 5 primetime games, again. Plus, the Thanksgiving Day game against the Lions. The Packers will face the Washington Commanders at Lambeau Field on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 2, the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 4, the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 8, the Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field on "Monday Night Football" in Week 10 and the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Saturday in Week 16.
Yes. The Packers don't have any three-game road trips, but there are three different two-game road trips, including two especially tricky stretches. Between Week 3 and Week 8, the Packers will play only one game at home -- they go to Cleveland and Dallas in back-to-back weeks, have a bye week and then go to Arizona and to Pittsburgh after playing the Bengals at Lambeau Field coming out of the bye. Late in the season, the Packers have four road games over the final six games, including trips to Denver and Chicago in back-to-back weeks and the season finale in Minnesota.
Yes. The road trips listed above will be difficult to manage. Early on, the two-game stretch against the Lions and Commanders to open the season will provide an opportunity for the Packers to prove themselves right away. Late in the season, the Packers will play four games against NFC North opponents over a five-game stretch. In fact, after playing the Lions in the opener, the Packers play their five division games over the final seven regular season games.
Only a few teams, actually. From mid-November on, the Packers play only three games at Lambeau Field: vs. the Vikings on Nov. 23, vs. the Bears on Dec. 7 and vs. the Ravens on either Dec. 27 or Dec. 28.
Nope. From November on, the Packers travel to New York, Detroit (indoors), Denver, Chicago and Minnesota (indoors).
The Minnesota Vikings, in Minneapolis. The Vikings have a question mark at quarterback entering 2025, but Kevin O'Connell's team is deep and talented and coming off a 14-win season. The Packers haven't finished a season against the Vikings since 2015. This one could have big implications for the division and playoff seeding.
The Packers play the Bears twice (Week 14, Week 16) over a three-game span in December.
Twice, the Packers play two games in five days. They'll get the Lions and Commanders between Sept. 7 and Sept. 11 and the Vikings and Lions between Nov. 23 and No. 27.
Who will the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles play coming out of their bye. The Packers, on "Monday Night Football," at Lambeau Field.
The Week 16 game against the Bears will be played at either 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. as part of a Saturday doubleheader.
The Week 17 game against the Ravens will be played on either Saturday, Dec. 27 or Sunday, Dec. 28.
