NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport gave his assessment of the Denver Broncos' offseason moves ahead of the upcoming NFL draft.
In a recent interview with the Broncos' media team, Rapoport endorsed the team's free agency moves.
"I think there was a lot of smart signings," Rapoport said. "I think that Evan Engram in particular was one where-rarely do you have -- I mean this free agent class did not have a tight end like him -- a star, a Pro Bowl-type tight end. Then he got released by the Jaguars, then it's like you could sort of see the Broncos mobilized."
The Broncos courted Engram for several days early in free agency, and Engram refused a similar offer from the AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers to sign in Denver.
Rapoport then talked about the Broncos' Dre Greenlaw signing. "He is a guy fans are going to absolutely love," he said. "He's been one of my favorite players for a very long time."
The goal for 2025 is to be better than last season, when the Broncos lost a wild-card playoff game to the Buffalo Bills. Rapoport thinks that the team is headed in the right direction after free agency and prior to the NFL draft. Time will be the greatest indicator to see if he is right.
