And there are players who will sit out the playoffs to avoid injuries or possibly lower their draft status.
I know players skip their bowl games, but I thought in general they play the playoff games since the national title is at stake. There was a lot of talk leading up to the conference title games about them needing to go away, and to some degree I understand why. The Big 10 title game was great theatre and seeing what it meant to Indiana is great.

Kiffin has always come across as an entitled, privileged, jerk…he’s no different than Petrino, Chip Kelly or Urban Meyer!!! When times get tough, they bail
He got Ole Miss to their highest point in program history. Maybe he should’ve handled the optics better but it’s 100% the right move.

Personally, I am glad Notre Dame did not get in. They have been on the other side of that coin and it went in their favor. So, justice IMO.

They lost to the two legitimately good teams they played and then, like they do every year, play their lame schedule against the likes of Navy, Stanford and Boston College and blow everybody out. And expect to get treated like a Big 10 or an SEC team.

Really would need some type of anti-trust/collective bargaining legislation to satisfy the courts.

With NIL, and Cost of Attendance, most of what got kids and schools penalized in the past for no longer applies
Unless you have graduated!

I don't think they should have gotten in either, but the bottom of the bracket is a complete S-Show. As if Tulane and James Madison have a real shot to win a title? Alabama did get left out last year and were making the same complaints I think that Texas is making now. Texas has also usually benefited from being Texas, so I'm not whining about that.

if they put in Notre Dame, BYU, or Texas in, there would be complaints from a lot of people as well. I think the playoff committee decided that Alabama was going in once they clinched the SEC title game, which is not fair to BYU, Virginia, or Duke. But BYU lost to Texas Tech twice. Texas lost 3 times. ND doesn't have any signature wins and lost to Miami and TX A&M. Miami didn't even make the ACC title game and we see what the committee thinks about the ACC championship. Texas A&M was undefeated until their last game. Why were Texas A&M, Miami, and Oklahoma sitting at home resting with absolutely nothing to lose, when they should have been playing for a conference championship if they are as good as people think that they are? ND needs to wake up and join a conference. It just doesn't seem like a consistent process.
