Thanks to head coach Hubert Davis' strong offseason recruiting efforts, the North Carolina Tar Heels are better-equipped for on-court success during their coming basketball season.

UNC lost four starters to the transfer portal, but replaced those losses with four projected starters. North Carolina will likely start Colorado State transfer Kyan Evans at point guard, senior Seth Trimble at shooting guard, international wing Luka Bogavac at small forward, Top-10 freshman Caleb Wilson at power forward and 7-foot Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar at center.

During ACC Tipoff on Tuesday afternoon, Davis spoke on the impact of the Tar Heels' newest additions, highlighting increased positional size across the roster.

One of the things that heading into this season or in the offseason that we wanted to improve on, our size," Hubert said. "The thing that would take it a step further was not just size in the front court, but positional size. I mean, we’ve got really big guards. And so we’ve got positional size. It allows us to do a number of things versatility-wise on both ends of the floor. I’ve always believed – and always will believe – that rebounding is the number one determining factor, of the outcome of the game, at both ends of the floor. And from an offensive rebounding standpoint, that’s an area that needed much improvement this year, compared to last."

Ivan Matlekovic joins Veesaar as another 7-footer on UNC's roster. Wilson, Alabama transfer/Chapel Hill native Jarin Stevenson, James Brown and Zayden High are all 6'10". Bogavac and Jonathan Powell are 6'6", Derek Dixon is 6'5", Jaydon Young and Isaiah Denis are 6'4", while Seth Trimble is 6'3".

When gameplay officially begins on Monday, November 3 at 7 p.m. against Central Arkansas, we'll see how much of an impact North Carolina's added height has regarding on-court success. There's plenty more to be excited about this season in Chapel Hill.
