2025 was a weird year on a lot of levels.

Personally, I started the year sitting on my couch, hoping I wouldn’t have to evacuate due to the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles. Yesterday, I wrote this article from my couch in Scottsdale after moving back in July.

Last week, I recapped the Colorado Rockies’ offseason roster moves, but in talking to my fellow Rowers, we realized how much happened with the 2025 Rockies — that we all forgot about!

Yes, it was a historically bad season, but there was so much that happened in the midst of everything.

So today, I’d like to take a look back at everything that happened and how we got to a point of weird, cautious optimism (?) heading into 2026.

January and February were pretty quiet, so I’ll start the recap in March:

What a crazy year! I honestly forgot about half of these things until I was compiling the list.

What are your thoughts? What things caught you off guard when they happened, or looking back now? What were some of the bright spots? And what are you hoping for in a (hopefully less eventful) 2026?

Let us know!

Clint Hurdle likely returning to Rockies for 2026, but role undetermined | Denver Post ($)

Clint Hurdle started 2025 as an assistant to the general manager for the Rockies, then moved to be the interim hitting coach after Hensley Meulens was fired and then interim bench coach when Bud Black and Mike Redmond were fired. It looks like he’ll remain part of the team in 2026, but he and Paul DePodesta are still working out the role and logistics. Patrick Saunders also answers other fan questions.
