With their second selection of the second round, the Chicago Bears took Texas A&M defensive tackle Shemar Turner out with the 62nd overall pick. This was an extra second-round pick acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Bills.
The move came after three straight offensive selections to open the draft, which wasn't surprising with new head coach Ben Johnson's influence at play.
Being an impactful pass rusher in the SEC is not easy, and Turner was one of those guys. Based on how great he is at his position, he probably could have been drafted higher, but teams overvalue other spots in the draft. Now, Turner joins a defensive line group that features interior defenders Gervon Dexter, Andrew Billings and Grady Jarrett.
