Hernia?

Anyone know what kind of specialist treats hernias IE can diagnose and do surgery? I think I have one. But do not feel like going to primary care doctor to get diagnosed and pay co pays etc... Just to get referred to the specialist/surgeon.. I wanna cut out the middle man. Any help appreciated. Trying to save money.

Not to scare you or anything - it is likely a hernia. But one of my best friends thought he had a hernia - no insurance at the time, so he went cheap and didn't treat it until the pain was too much.

Turned out it was NOT a hernia, but cancer. By then, it was too late. He died less than 18 months later.

I had one about 8 years ago, Get it treated ASAP. I waitied for a while and shortly before the surgery (had a mesh patch installed) I was told it would be quick and a full recovery would take a 2 weeks.

I woke up and I could feel this tape across my waistline. It turned out the hernia was worse than they originally thought and several inches of intestine had descended and they had to open me up and re-align everything. It took two months to recover and I have a scar line that basically runs from hip to hip.

I waited because I wanted to save time. Big effin mistake.

I had a hernia operation when I was five years old. That doesnt help, but I am a member of the club.

I actually ended up not having one. So I guess that’s a good thing.
