At this point it might be smartest for the Jets to just hold their ground and let Reddick become a FA in the offseason. Then they might have a shot at a 3rd or 4th round compensatory pick next year depending on what happens in FA. Which would probably be higher than the picks teams would be willing to trade for him at this point in the season.
if he doesnt play at all the season does not toll and he will not be a free agent.
if he wants to be a free agent..its more likely he comes back to the team...then pulls a Hammy in the first game that nags him all season long

Reddick isn't dumb. He will come back before the deadline and stand on the sideline to ensure he is a FA next season.

IMO, this is where the NFLPA needs to push back. If the player can have enforceable fines, the contract should toll.

Here is an interesting question. The Jets traded a conditional pick to the Eagles for Reddick. Right now it is a conditional 2026 3rd round pick. However, if Reddick gets 10 or more sacks and plays in more than 67.5% of the defensive snaps that compensation becomes the Jets 2026 2nd round pick.

Does this condition only apply to the Jets? If the Jets trade Reddick and he hits those numbers with another team do the Jets still have to give up a 2nd? Curious what the terms of the trade say about the possibility of another trade.
That is on the Jets no matter what Reddick does for a potential other team.

If Reddick gets 10+ sacks in the last 7 games where he most likely wil see limited snaps in the first half of them before he's back to full game condition, then he's all worth it.

Reports are that Monti has reached out which he should. It would be gross if he wasn't at least checking in.
It's not his job unless there is some sort of interest. I doubt that every team checks in on every player that could potentially be on option.

That is your job as a GM during the season. Especially players who are actually good. If the Commanders are really bad in a couple of weeks, Monti should be checking in on Jonathan Allen and Terry McLaurin.

Yes, but do you think he checks in on Bryce Young? I doubt it, since there is absolutely zero chance he would buy him.

I would hope he would. Being able to rehab a QB for draft assets should be on his brain. Especially with the Cardinals backup QB situation. Now, he probably wouldn't pay the price if one was even given, but it is worth a call.

one possibility: Joe Douglas wont trade him as a matter of principle. He will not be bullied by a player.

its dumb, but a possibility
Douglas has so much as said this. And he is a stubborn mule type of GM. But, eventually, he may be forced to do something.

Lmao... would be insane to get Young cheap..rehab him...and have two top 3 picks at quarterback.

Do you really feel he can be rehabbed? If so, why is that? Because he was a top 3 pick? It certainly would be great to have him learn from Kyler as his backup with the possibility of trading Young down the road if he can regain his confidence.

Absolutely you take a chance on Young if you can get him cheap. He wasn’t drafted #1 overall for no reason.

Thats a no brainer. Would you rather stick with Tune as a backup?

And Young was the consensus #1 pick over Stroub by a wide margin. People that are saying different have revisionist memories.

I agree that Young has suffered because he was drafted by a trashy organization that provided him with no weapons and garbage protection. Just goes to show you how special Murray is because other than having DHop for short periods of time, he was given the same crappy treatment. And Young’s defenses were actually better than the defenses that Kyler had in 2019 & 2020.

Doubt it. Panthers would demand a lot to eat 22M + 5-6M /year that the New team has to pay

I remember Stroud being ahead until it was leaked that the Panthers wanted to take Young #1. Getting Young as a backup would be a dream.

I think Bryce was just waaaay overhyped. If you remember, I pretty thought this was going to happen to Bryce.

Bryce makes Kyler look big. He has an average arm. He a bit above average as an athlete, but he's mostly a pocket passer. He doesn't have a single elite trait. People compare him to Brees, but Brees had better traits.

Playing for Alabama can be a curse, because a player can look so much better than they actually are. Elite OL, elite WRs, elite RBs, and good coaching.
