Jordan Travis is retiring from football.
The former Benjamin School and Florida State University quarterback, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, posted on social media Wednesday afternoon, announcing his decision.
"On November, 2023, my life and career took an unexpected turn," he said in a photo of a handwritten letter. "I gave everything I had to the rehab process, but despite my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with my doctors and medical team, I have been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply."

Travis was FSU football's all-time leader in career touchdowns, setting multiple offensive records for the school.
He suffered a severe injury in the penultimate game of the 2023 season, a game against North Alabama, ending what had been a Heisman-candidate year. The West Palm Beach native still finished fifth in Heisman voting that season.
“Jordan has informed us of his intent to retire due to the injury he sustained while at Florida State,” Jets general manager Darren Mougey said in a statement. “It is unfortunate that he was unable to get back on the field after working so hard. We support his decision and wish him only the best.”
Travis threw for 8,644 yards, 65 touchdowns and 19 interceptions at Florida State in 46 games (38 starts). He became the first Seminoles QB with three wins against Miami and finished his career with 17 straight wins.
In his collegiate career, he was 633-for-1,013 passing for 8,644 yards and 65 touchdowns while also compiling 1,910 yards and 31 touchdowns on 409 carries.
He was the 2017 Small Schools Player of the Year for The Palm Beach Post and the 2017 Lou Groza Player of the Year after compiling 2,190 yards and 24 touchdowns through the air while rushing for 905 yards and 16 more scores for the Benjamin Buccaneers. He transferred to Benjamin from Palm Beach Central.
