Apr. 30—Today is a big day where 's contract is concerned.

The fourth-year Illinois women's basketball coach is due to receive a $200,000 retention bonus today. Under the provision of Green's current deal, which carries her through the end of the 2029-30 season, the Illini coach will collect that much of a bonus as long as she remains continuously employed at the university through April 30 of each contract year.

That bonus will take Green over a cool million in compensation for a second straight year. Green was the first Illini women's sports team to top $1 million in earnings in a single school year last April, with Green then reaching seven figures thanks to a $150,000 retention bonus and two separate $15,000 bonuses for making the WBIT and then winning it.
