Questions about whether John Harbaugh would refuse to work with Giants general manager Joe Schoen have become a central talking point in New York.

But those closest to the situation are pushing back hard on that assumption.

In an appearance on WFAN on Tuesday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz disputed reports that Harbaugh wouldn’t work with someone like Schoen.

“I don’t believe, based on what I’ve been told, that there’s a prerequisite for John Harbaugh to say, ‘I have to pick my GM.’ This is not that situation,” Schultz said in a clip shared on X/Twitter. “He wants a lot of say over personnel, but he’s not going to say, ‘I can’t work with Joe Schoen.’ They have been ultra aggressive. The other part, and this is probably the most important part, is John Harbaugh is only going to go to a place where he believes he can win with a quarterback, and Jaxson Dart is someone he liked a lot he did coming out of the draft.

“With all that in mind, I’m not willing to say that the Giants is definitively where he’s going to go, but that’s what the Giants want. And I think Harbaugh is very open and excited about the idea of coming to New York.”

This is good news for New Yorkers, who took former Giants safety Logan Ryan’s report to heart last week.

When asked what the most desireable gig for Harbaugh is, between the Giants, Falcons, Dolphins and Titans, Ryan prefaced his answer by admitting that New York has the best roster situation.

Then, he cautioned that their general manager leaves a lot to be desired, creating a huge impediment for the Giants in their pursuit of Harbaugh.

“Right now, as we’re standing, Harbaugh is not going to go work for Joe Schoen,” Ryan says emphatically, via X/Twitter. “I think he’ll go to Atlanta, where there’s no GM at the moment, or Miami just hired a GM a few minutes ago, whatnot ... But if Joe Schoen gets fired, that’s for John Harbaugh.”
