The Georgia Bulldogs will return defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod for the 2026 college football season. McLeod opted to return to Georgia over the transfer portal or even entering the 2026 NFL draft.
McLeod is a redshirt sophomore and has two years of eligibility left. He played the first season of his career with the South Carolina Gamecocks before transferring to Georgia ahead of the 2024 season. McLeod and Georgia are scheduled to play his former team for the first time since 2023 during the 2026 season.
McLeod's decision to return is pretty expected. It would've been surprising if he entered the draft. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound defensive lineman has good size and posted career-best 17 tackles and two pass deflections during the 2025 season across 13 games. He made five starts and saw more snaps after Jordan Hall suffered a season-ending injury.
McLeod is strong against the run. He joins a 2026 UGA defensive line room that could feature the Josh Horton, Elijah Griffin, Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, Nnamdi Ogboko and more. Georgia lost star defensive lineman Christen Miller to the NFL draft.
"One last run, let's go!" McLeod said in his return announcement.
