The Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches Association has announced its second hall of fame class.

Three Cincinnati high school tennis legends will be inducted into the GCTCA Hall of Fame in 2025: current Seven Hills boys and girls tennis coach Tim Drew; current Turpin girls tennis coach Gail Maundrell; and former Wyoming head coach Jerry Scheele.

The induction ceremony will take place on Sept. 6 at The Original Montgomery Inn, 9440 Montgomery Road. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour, and dinner follows shortly after. Tickets are $50 each, and they include dinner and one drink. Soft drinks are included in the ticket, and there will be a cash bar available.

Drew, Maundrell and Scheele will join the GCTCA's first Hall of Fame Class, which included former St. Xavier and St. Ursula head coach Russ King; former Sycamore head coaches Tom Bohmer and Maxine Hoyles-Yates (who also coached at Wyoming); and former Western Brown head coach Tom Ball.

Drew started teaching at Seven Hills in 1989, and he has since coached tennis for 36 years and amassed more than 900 career victory. He has won 28 coaches association coach of the year awards, he's a member of the Ohio Coaches Hall of Fame and he was named the National High School Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in 2019. His team won a state title in 2022, and he also served as the GCTCA vice president for more than a decade and as its president for two years.

Maundrell has been teaching physical education since 1972, and she's been a coach at Turpin since it opened in 1976. She's also coached gymnastics, swimming and diving and the drill team. Her teams have won 15 league titles in four different conferences. Maundrell has won many coaching awards, and she was inducted into the state tennis coaches hall of fame in 2024.

Scheele started at Wyoming in 1959 and spent 32 years there before retiring. He coached the boys tennis team from 1960 to 1980, winning 20 league championships in those 20 years and compiling a league record of 226-3. He also coached the girls tennis team at Wyoming for five seasons starting in 1976, leading them to a 58-0 record in league play and an 83-9 record overall.
