Walker almost stranded two runners in scoring position in the first . . .

But an error by the 3B allowed two runs to score. 2-0 D-backs.

We'll take it!

And Peralta drives in our third run.

Archie looked very comfortable and in control in the 9th. Those cardboard cutouts of Dubbya and Nancy Bush didnt faze him

Nice win! Great pitching, timely hitting and even Chafin didn’t walk his first batter!

D-backs took advantage of a 2-run error early in the game
and didn't have to play catchup. A good win!

And a great pitching performance vs. a light hitting team.

And credit Archie with striking out the side in the 9th.

Let's do it again tomorrow. A day game - 1:00 start.

Hopefully this snaps them out of it. Still, this looks like a team where .500 is the ceiling. Offense has shown nothing in 5 games.

That's a good point. Three of the four D-backs runs were unearned.

Two scored on the error. And the third because the inning was extended.

As mentioned, without the error, Walker would have stranded runners on
2nd & 3rd to end the half inning.

First, Bradley has never made the changeup a prominent pitch. It's part of what kept him from starting. The pitch itself, in terms of movement, is highly inconsistent. Just looking at 2019 and what we've seen in 2020, it seems like it varies quite a bit once it leaves his hand.

Second, we have to remember who whiffed. Joey Gallo swings and misses a lot. Whiles he's cut down some of his swing/miss, he's still among league leaders and contact is not his game. He may not have expected changeups and been taken by surprise to a degree.

So while it's really exciting to see Bradley get those big whiffs on changeups, I'm not sure the pitch itself is remarkably better and I'm not sure a better contact hitter would have produced the same outcomes. In essences, it's too early to declare that his CH is here to stay.

Other than the two Martes, every other player is struggling mightily at the plate.

Meanwhile, the Ahmed extension looks like a big mistake already, as he is struggling both at the plate and in the field.

And, of course, Starling is benched in the next game in favor of Jon Jay.

As far as Ahmed, he is, of course, a great fielder, and a decent hitter vs. LHP.
But against RHP, he is, and has always been sub-par. It is what it is.

But now on top of everything else, Ahmed is increasingly making errors or slip-ups on routine plays. He already looks like a guy who took the money and ran.

Steve just confirmed there is nothing wrong with Starling.

Just a "scheduled day off". In-freaking-flexible management.

Gotta get those subs a start so they don't think they're subs. :?::shrug::?:
