Andy Young converted 3 double plays last night at 2nd base. And could be a solid started of given the chance. And here we have Lamb still riding the squad. If you're throwing in the towel on the season. At least give the guys who will be on the team next year some real life experience.

Precisely. This is madness.

Exciting game with MadBum back . . . and vs. the Giants.

Back to Calhoun batting leadoff, Varsho in CF and Ketel at 2nd base.

A small-ball run for the D-backs in the 1st.

MadBum pitching with a lead against the
Giants for the first time ever.

And a D-back left on 2B in the second.

Interesting! The D-backs still don't have a hit.

Longoria ties it with a solo HR in the 2nd.

And a back-to-back HR. Giants 2-1.

MadBum is back . . . but is his back back? :)

This is looking more and more like the Russ Ortiz signing...

The D-backs get runners to 2B & 3B, Cahill leaves the game . . . and they're stranded in the 3rd.

Has Peralta ever been this bad at left field or is it just this year? He's taking awful angles and can't seem to read the ball off the bat.

Good for Varsho looking like MLB player the last two days. Not keeping Young for experience is unexplainable though.

I really want to know whose call it is in terms of who is active versus sent down - Hazen or Lovullo.

Is that Young the 2B or Young the Pitcher?

If it is Young the 2B, then I think it's a good move. In order to keep Ketel at 2B.

The alternative to Young at 2B, moving Ketel to CF, is no Young, with Locastro
and Jay platooning in CF. We really don't need Young as a third player in that mix.

But considering that Locastro, Jay and Lamb have zero future year, and Hazen has already thrown in the towel this season, that is an absolute waste of three active roster spots...

I agree. My reference was Lovullo being tempted to move Ketel back and forth between 2B and CF once again.

And his history of not giving young players a chance to acclimate.

Young only has the arm to play 2B. Considering that they’re not spending any more money next year Ketel will be in CF. You might as well put him out there now.

That's fine. It's shifting Ketel back and forth from 2B to CF every game is what bothers me.

As I've posted, I remember Ketel telling the Press last season that he felt it contributed to injuries.
