Per the D-backs site, here is the starting lineup.

The light hitting (.111) Jon Jay is in the corner outfield position of RF, bumping Calhoun
to DH and either Varsho or Cron (whichever would be DH'ing) to the bench.

Why does Jay remain in the hitting starting "rotation", especially with Torey's declaration
that he wants power hitters in the batting order?

Lovullo reminds me of someone I will not be watching on TV. He also doesn't see things as
they are, rather as he wants them to be. Jon Jay is not a starter! He even belongs behind
Locastro as a backup outfielder.

Gonzo is doing color commentary tonight, following Grace and his
huffing-and-puffing last night. An adult is back in the booth.

Even if we don't win, it should be a pleasant telecast.

I guess Bob Brenly is going to have migraines until we win a game. :)

They planned on opening the roof, but the monsoon storm changed that.

Alex Young is our starting pitcher, BTW.

Well, Young got the first out in the top of the 1st.

Then a TRIPLE, DOUBLE, WALK DOUBLE. 2-0 score.
Runners on 2nd & 3rd. D-backs playing catch-up again.

Apparently, the Rockies brought Coors Field with them.

Young throws 30 pitches in the 1st inning.

I hope BB isn't watching the game.

C'mon batters, do something! Of course, it would help
if our second best RBI man in the lineup (one behind the
leader) weren't hitting leadoff, behind our worst hitters.

'Let's see. Who's my leadoff man? How about the one
who's hitting .228 and drives in runs.'

How can one Manager be so %@*# illogical?!?

Christian Walker lifts one -- solo. 2-1.

And, how do you like this?
John Jay just hit a solo HR. 2-2 after two.

All or nothing!

Gonzo just referred to Calhoun hitting leadoff
and Ketel hitting leadoff or second all season.

Ketel is seventh on the team in RBI's, after
being #2 last season.

On the good side, the guys just pointed out
that Young went from a windup to the set
position after the first inning. And it showed
results. 'Good move!

Well, you can do like I do. Watch old time shows on TV, and follow the game on gamecast. :)

I agree we are not a home run team and need to manufacture runs. But unfortunately, this is today's MLB.

I agree we are not a home run team and need to manufacture runs. But unfortunately, this is today's MLB.
After the players-only meeting, the Marte's and Peralta started hitting line drives for a few games.

Whoever put the cabash on that has us back to mimicking the power hitting teams of baseball.
Or maybe it was the trip to Coors Field.

Steve just said that Torey told him that the team has to stop being so inconsistent. What a
bunch of crap! As long as his lineups are inconsistent, the results are going to be inconsistent.

Right before he mentioned that, Steve pointed out that it has a long time since the D-backs have
driven a runner in scoring position.

And, BTW, the Rockies, with a solo HR in the 4th, lead 3-2.

In their past 63 innings, the D-backs have scored more than one run in an inning twice. It's every
man for himself.

Gonzo commented that the short schedule have especially put the hitters into that mode. That
should be where management gets involved.

I’ll take Grace over Gonzo. Gonzo is a stiff.

OK, guys, the D-backs have the bases loaded with no one out.

Let's see what happens.

Jay's having a good night. A sac fly makes it 3-3. All of the
runners advance into scoring position. 2nd & 3rd with one out.

Kelly strikes out for the second out. Calhoun walks to load the
bases for Ketel. Short fly ball to RF to leave 'em loaded.

Line drive, Ketel, line drive! It's easier to line it into the gap than
reach the seats. Go with the odds, man. ;)

I've had the game on, but have been writing a post in tribute
to Jackie Robinson on the Around MLB 2020 thread.

The game is going to the bottom of the 8th, with the Rockies
leading 5-3.

Down by two in the 9th, Calhoun draws a walk (his third of the game).

Ketel whiffs for the first out. Starling fouls some off, but grounds into
a forceout.

Starling takes 2B uncontested. And Peralta drives him in. It's a 1-run
game and Locastro is pinch-running for the Freight Train. Walker gets
on 1B. Runners on 1B and 2B.

Escobar, last year's RBI leader for the D-backs, is up and walks. The
bases are loaded, with the tying and winning runs in scoring position.

Ahmed is up and Varsho comes in as a pinch-runner on 2B. And Nick
whiffs to leave the bases loaded.

The D-backs stranded runners at 3rd base five times this game.

With their horrible performance not driving runners in from scoring
position, it is not a good combination to constantly be playing
catch-up.

The hitters on this team are too good for this to be happening!

Damnit, damnit, damnit! It goes back to Torey being quoted that
he wants his players to constantly hit the ball in the air.

These guys couldn’t hit in a T Ball league. I really don’t know what the approach is with these guys. Some guys have terrible zone awareness and swing and bad pitches. Others always seem to get in bad counts.

That's seven L's in a row.

L's . . . . . . as in LovuLLo.

Outscored 34-12. Scoring 1 four times, 2 twice and, whoopee, 4 tonight.
And all of the runners left on base and in scoring position.

The manager and his coaching staff are clearly faiLing.

I think the pitching staff should file a Class Action law suit against them. :)
