Andy Young and Daulton Varsho should be in there everyday for development. Kevin Cron isn’t going to start hitting off speed pitches at 27 years old.

Merrill Kelly back to being Merrill Kelly. Getting blasted. Like I said, Zac Gallen is the one starting pitcher we have who shows long term promise.

Merrill Kelly is what he is. A stop gap fifth starter who didn't make it to the Majors until Age 30. Not negative. Just reality.

Gallen, on the other hand, is looking like a future #1 or #2. We still need 4 starting pitchers to go along with him.

Please clarify your post. 4 runs in 5 innings is great?

It causes hitters to press . . . and stress.

Hes saying how hes back to being crap....5 innings doesnt mean jack. What about the previous 50 innings where he performed great....selective negativity and stirring the negativity pot...its 1sun in a nutshell

Walker has a .728 OPS which is really poor for a 1B.
Without looking up stats (and you may disagree), I compare Walker to Will Clark as the Giants 1B (Will Clark not Jack Clark). Even though Will Clark was a better hitter than Walker.

Has some power, but not what you'd expect from a POWER first baseman. The kind of power you'd expect from Jack Clark.

Not in numbers. Not in image. Strong teams are strong at the corner positions -- 1B, 3B, RF, LF. The kind of RBI guy you'd want up with the game on the line. Escobar stretched to that last season at 3B. Lamb -- never, because of his hot and cold performances, which have become frigid cold.

That is why I was hoping Kevin Cron would work out at 1B. But he was never given the chance to develop at the Major League level. And now, all he can do is strike out, under the pressure that each at-bat determines his future, or lack of it.

Even if it is true that Cron doesn't possess the skill to succeed at the Major League level, we'll never know.

So we settle for a Chris Walker. Yes, we could do worse, but we'll never know if we could have done better. Especially with Jake Lamb sinking to oblivion.
