I beg to differ. Bob Brenley is the reason we won the Series.

Because he didn't follow the tradition of starting RJ in Games 1-4-7 and Schilling 2-6.

By starting Johnson at home in 2-6 and as a closer at home in 7 (none in Yankee Stadium),
he used our Ace to his best advantage. It was the best strategic decision I've seen in all of
the years I have rooted for National League baseball (and despised the Yankees).

And look how Kim blew the games in Yankee Stadium in 3-4-5.

We won the Championship. Brenly made it happen!

Yeah, most managers would’ve started both 5 games but you saw in 04’ with the Red Sox Schilling lived for those crowd quieting situations. And we know how Randy faired in NY when the Yankees traded for him. It’s wasn’t his vibe and Brenly knew it.

Brenly was our 4th best player that year. He pushed all the right buttons.

No he didn't. When you have the best 1-2 starters in baseball, it's hard to lose. Tony Womack saved Brenly's butt in game 5 of the NLDS. Also, the way he handled Kim in game 4 and 5 of the WS was terrible. Schilling should of pitched the 8th inning and then he should of brought Kim in the 9th.

Plus, Brenly got lucky with Randy in game 7. Randy should of been removed from game 6 after the 5th or 6th inning. The Yankees were not going to come back down 15.

Brenly went from the booth to Manager. Do you know
for a fact that he wasn't happier back in the booth?

He has become the best color commentator in baseball
with a lot less pressure.

Yes, actually. It is no secret that Brenly desperately wanted back in the dugout, or at least on the field, and he spent the better part of a decade actively lobbying for another chance at coaching or managing. World Series notwithstanding, he was considered such a joke and so soft as a manager that he had a hard time even getting an interview.

So you're dismissing results with a vague reference to "luck".

The only luck was that the D-backs had the home field advantage,
and Bob Brenly recognized it by reversing the roles of Johnson
and Schilling. Using people to their best advantage. Excellent!

That was not a casual decision, nor was it luck. BB stuck his neck
out and it worked. For that, he gets the credit. As he should have.
(That's "should have", not "should of", BTW.)

You're arguing with results. Bob Brenly won one more Championship
than Phoenix Suns coaches have in over a half century.

If you're looking to find failure, you should look in the appropriate place.

So you’re criticism of him is pulling Schilling an inning too early and not pulling Randy sooner. Okay, I guess?

The Diamondbacks dominated the Yankees at home and hung tough on the road. At least give the Yankees some credit and put the blame on the manager over some nitpicks.

The Diamondbacks were only up 2 on the road with Curt dominating.. Why give the ball to a 22- year-old for the last two innings in a hostile environment when you have a veteran who has pitched in many big games?

RJ had a 15-0 lead after 5 innings. Knowing there was a game seven, you should take him out, saving him so he could pitch if needed in game 7.

If not for Curt and RJ, they don't win the world series. With the talent they had, Chip Hale could of won the world series with that team.

It was a mistake. One mistake.

He did pitch in game 7!

Interesting. How many WS did Maddux-Glavine-Smoltz win?

Everyone knows that, but at the time in game 6, even the announcers were guessing why RJ was still out there. They were saying they did not expect RJ pitch in game 7 since he pitched 7 innings.

Found this article, check #9. The last sentence says a lot, https://bleacherreport.com/articles/991701-the-worst-manager-decisions-in-mlb-history.

But he did pitch in game 7 and won it. Pitching 7 innings in game 6 didn't seem to effect him so why is it still a question of bad coaching when it all worked? You chalking it up as luck?

One weird thing after watching some old highlights was BK Kim switching from the windup to the stretch before his 9th pitch of the at bat vs Jeter.

Start at 4:05
