In a related note, Steve & BB reported during yesterday's game that the Padres are
going back to their brown themed uniforms full time next season.

Here is an article about it.

https://www.mlb.com/cut4/padres-to-wear-brown-uniforms-in-2020/c-303157998

It is unique to the Padres, without being gaudy like the ol' green & yellow uniforms of
the Oakland A's.

As a "Zonie" who has visited San Diego many times over the past four decades and,
as a National League baseball fan, I like the Padres choice.

But then, about a half year ago, I changed the wallpaper on my Smart Phone from
sky blue to shades of brown, so I am hardly impartial. :)

P.S.: It is interesting that there are apps for the Suns and Mercury (two of my three
favorite Phoenix teams), but none for the Diamondbacks. For that, you have to go
into MLB Schedule and, from there, into the D-backs site. I wonder why!

Almonte leads off with a triple, followed by a sac fly by Leyva, before
the first out was recorded.

The Padres starter has something like an 18 ERA in his last few starts.
He is just begging to be hit.

Luke Weaver, back from injury, to make his first start for the D-backs
since May 26th, has a 1-0 lead. He'll be throwing 30-35 pitches.

Luke Weaver throws 19 pitches (2 innings) before being pulled and looks good.

It is up to the bullpen now. Clarke is in to pitch the 3rd inning.

Quantrill, following the triple and sac fly to start the game, has been setting
down the D-backs with no trouble.

'Had to leave for awhile. Hunter Renfroe with a solo HR for the Padres in the
bottom of the 5th to tie the score.

Escobar with a groundout RBI in the top of the 6th to make it 2-1 D-backs.

Crichton and McFarland pitched the 6th for the D-backs. Yoshi the 7th.

The duo that put the D-backs on the board to start the game
now put up an insurance run. Almonte and Leyba with doubles
in the 8th.

Almonte has a single, double and triple. He's a veteran. Our
right fielder next season?

And Escobar singles in Leyba to make it 4-1 D-backs.

Nick Ahmed with errors in back-to-back innings, the 7th & 8th.

Does the team have its mind elsewhere?

And a walk puts runners on 1B & 3B.

Tying run at the plate. Chafin in to pitch to a lefty with 2 outs.

Hosmer with a single to make it 4-2.

And now our 7th relief pitcher of the game and 3rd this inning,
Archie, who immediately hits the batter to load the bases.

Ah, Archie, the drama queen. And he leaves them loaded.

Bottom of the 9th with Archie pitching.

Single. Strikeout. Flyout. Diving catch by Escobar on a ground
ball to end the game.

With the D-backs playing the lowly Padres in 6 of their final 9
games, Torey Lovullo owes the schedule makers steak dinners. :)

Does archie just thrive with bases loaded? Cant pitch well until they are? He always has to make it close.
