Flores with a 2-strike single to RF drives in Avila
who had walked and was sacrificed to second.

The only hit of the game. Our second base hit
followed, but the runner was out at third.

1-0 D-backs after three innings.

An immediate Reds HR and it's a 1-1 game with no one out.

An immediate Reds HR (no, that's not a double-post in error)
and the Reds lead 2-1.

And a third HR made it 3-1.

After six innings, the D-backs had a total of 1 run on 3 hits
with one walk.

When Marte bunted to the open side of the infield to try for
a rally, Steve and Bob raved about it and said they wished
more D-backs did the same. But they said the metrics people
would have a fit.

Baseball strategy has been turned over to the geeks. And,
to no one's surprise, the results are geeky!

And that's all she wrote. Another series lost.

The D-backs have scored a total of 14 runs
in their last 9 games. That's an average of
one and a half runs per game.

BB just said the D-backs can't even play
well against bad teams. That hurts! They
are peaking downward.

Lovullo has settled into an apparent
2-within-.500 comfort level. :(

After a 93-69 record in his first season
as Manager, Tory was 82-80 last season
and is at 76-74 for 2019.

That's what the numbers say!

Still don't understand how a team can go red hot then ice ice cold. I can see them coming down, leveling out, but to go from 7 wins in a row to 7 losses is just strange.

Pressure of being in the wild card chase too much for them and they put pressure on themselves?

'Sorry, but I have to add/repeat that the inconsistent approach of the Manager is the primary answer.

Quadriple and triple switches in the field during the game. Lack of team chemistry. No set lineup.
No progress. Weak responses at post-game Press conferences by a Manager in his 3rd year.
All season long, the fate of the D-backs, game by game, rests in the hands of their opponents.

You win some, you lose some, to the tune of no more than 2 games above or below .500 for
most of the season. at a record pace. And even a winning streak followed by a losing streak
to get us right back to that level.

As Bob Brenly said today, you can't lose to the teams you are supposed to beat.

Tory is a very, very likable guy. Which is not the top priority for a dynamic manager.
