Marte gets the day off. Well, the start off.

I hope he is used as a pinch hitter to bat
when most needed vs. a double switch
or defensive replacement.

Rojas is batting second. He's off to a
great start.

I hope Escobar is close to adjusting his
swing and getting back in the groove.
We need his RBI bat.

You'd think that not swinging at the
high pitches, as described by BB and
Bert, would be easy enough to do.

The AZ Cardinals are down to Oakland 17-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

EDIT: Now 24-0.

C'mon, D-backs, Arizona needs a win. ERA says it should be us.

As a Cardinal’s season ticket, go DBacks.

As far as the D-backs, so much for logic.

First four batters -- two in, two on.

A 2-run single with the bases loaded.

Runners on 1st & 2nd.

Young with 26 pitches in the top of the 1st.

'Another rough night for the bullpen as well?

A little later in the year, I always have to make a decision.

If there is a TV conflict, do I watch the D-backs end their
season or the Suns begin theirs?

For most of the decade, it's been to watch the D-backs.

This year, it looks like it's going to be the Suns start.

Two doubles and a HR with one out in the 5th and it's 5-0 Giants.

Longoria has 4 of the 5 Giants RBI's.

Duplaintier is back up and, once again, instead of using him as what
he is, a starting Pitcher, he is up in the bullpen. Aarg!

The Giants make it 6-0 in the 6th on a double and Dyson's error.

Duplantier, struggling as a reliever, was then able to leave the
bases loaded on a double play.

Rojas, following two hard line drives, one to RF and one to LF, flies out to RF.

The D-backs have only two hits in the game so far.

I hope Rojas doesn't get benched for going hitless, so far, in one game, when
the rest of the D-backs aren't hitting.

If the D-backs lose, they will be back to their usual .500.

They'll be tied with the Giants at 61-61.

This is a 4-game series. The D-backs would have to win
2 of the next 3 for a split to be the team to not drop
below .500.

Chrichton gives up a run in the top of the 8th and it's 7-0 Giants.

Rodriguez threw a 3-hit shutout for the Giants for his seven innings.

D-backs had three 2-out singles in the game.

Not one runner got beyond 1B.

Against a starting pitcher with an ERA of 5.32.

I'd sure like to hear someone, anyone, analyze
the specifics of why that happened.

Because this is a .500 team that lays an offensive egg every couple of days.

We know that is the result. But my question is "Why?".

Is it simply that they follow the MLB practice of not
trying to manufacture runs as the game progresses?
Especially with rumors about juiced baseballs.

I can't believe that the powers that be, from the
investors to the Front Office, don't put a priority
on their team winning games.

Surely, MLB is not like the NBA was until this
coming season, in encouraging tanking.

Is it that baseball teams are more affected by
TV revenue than attendance at the games?

TV revenue is based on projected estimates,
whereas attendance is specific. Although
season tickets result in empty seats, they
were paid for.

Why is "baseball" not as disappointed at a
team hitting 3 harmless 2-out singles all
game against a pitcher with a high ERA
as the fans are? Or, as this fan is?
