I cannot find a link as it is an ad..but Jake plummer purchased a full page ad on page c11 of the sunday sports section.. Recap for out of towners:
Paragraph 1 - talks about first coming to phoenix as an 18 year old
para #2: thanks az state and sun devil fans
para #3 - heaps praise on the cardnals - on quote: the bidwill family has treated me with respect support and love. The family's patience, energy and vision have brought the cardinals fans a new stadium and will ultimately bring them a championship football team"

para #4: most of all - I thank the fans..you cheered and booed me when I deserved it..etc.etc..

para 5: nervous about moving away, new opportunity..thank you again, etc..

yours truly, jake Plummer (signed)

I do not have time to retype the entire thing..
Jake was always a great guy - I have 4 footballs he signed at training camp (along with whoever else was on the team and willing to sign)..Although I would rather have blake as our starting qb..jake is a class act.

Agreed

That was a very classy thing to do. I've met Jake Plummer a few times and he has always been kind and eager to autograph stuff. I wish him luck in Denver...I will now root for Denver in the AFC...Just not when they play the Cards!

Very nice of Jake to do that. After all the misery his play has caused some of us, he kind of owes us, but at least he came through unlike many ungrateful athletes of today.

Heck, he owes a lot to blind faith followers like Lex and Azdeftone, who follow him like a lemming:D

What a joke..... This guy couldn't wait to leave town.... remember his comments on the last game in Denver when they started chanting for him, he wanted to be there and not a Cardinal anymore....Please this was a total hollow and meaningless gesture a total PR move, nothing more..... Glad he'll be throwing INT's for Denver now.... don't let the door hit ya in the arse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always liked Jake and I think he liked it in AZ and wishes it could have been better.

Not everything here was his fault although I don't think he has yet or is likely ever going to master a few fundamental things in his game to be a good NFL QB.

I really hope he finally gets over the hump just not for the Donkeys, I cannot stand them.

I hope he is cut, finally learns and leads the Bengals to a Super Bowl. I'd be fine with something like that.

Jake was a decent guy who is not a very good quarterback. I will be completely shocked if he becomes an above average quarterback anywhere.. Yea..maybe the article was a publicity stunt..but why bother doing it? I do not see david boston running any full page ads.. Personally, I think it is something jake wanted to do for all of his long time supporters here in the Valley.. and he likes the area and according to media reports he will keep his house here and split time between Idaho, denver and phoenix.. There was no reason for him to wax poetically about the bidwills..but he did it anyway. This is one of the few times I have seen a former player come out and say very nice things about the bidwills..maybe things are changing.

Well, I definitely had my times of booing Jake but that was a classy thing to do. When was the last time a former Carinal took out an ad to thank US?

That's PURE opinion.

Nothing can back up that (stats, W/L, etc.). IN MY OPINION, he was NOT one of the better players.

No, he didn't have to take out an ad, but Msropi said, he made it quite apparent that he didn't want to be here, and this is a total PR move.

A PR move for whom? I don't get it. If he hated it here, and didnt want to be here, well, he's gone, why would he take the time to do that if it wasnt at least sincere on some level?

You guys are too freaking harsh.

You might be right.

Now that I think about it, it wouldn't make any sense if he wasn't at least somewhat sincere.

I can't recall any major sports athlete taking out a full page in the paper to say "Thank you". He didn't have to do that, nobody would have said, "Dude, Jake is a putz, he didn't even say goodbye in the newspaper or anything."

Class act!

I've never met Jake; I live too far away, so I don't know what he's like in-person.

PR move or not, has anyone ever heard of ANY OTHER PLAYER that took the time and his own money to do anything like this?

I do wish him well, but figure he will still tantalize and tease until/unless he finally GETS the mental part of it and stops making the same mistakes.

Pretty class move IMO.

Good luck Jake.

It was time for you to go. I'll try and remember the good things.

Beating Dallas in the playoffs(thanks to the defense BTW), His first action in Philly (the 98 yard drive), and the touchdown to Martay in Philly with time running out.

I am not sad to see him go, I am sad it didn't work out.

Anyone who thinks this is a PR move is silly.

Please if you think that tell me one solitary thing that jake has to gain by taking out a full page ad in the paper thanking the fans???

It was plain and simply a class move by a class player who enjoyed his time here and is ley=tting everyone know. There is no hidden agenda!

What he has to gain is lucrative assignments after football...ala...Dan Deirdorf...and Monday Night Football...it is great Pr by Jake and his "team"....make no mistake...we will all try to remember the good times with Jake....and there were many but...we temper it with a sadness for what could have been...if the orginazation were more committed....

Umm sorry but a full page colr ad in the republic thanking the fans is not going to get him a job on Monday Night Football 10 years from now.

To think so is just silly!

Totally two faced of him.... Thanking the fans and then wishing he was out of here and in Denver. Let's see why might he need to cover his arse with a PR move???? Possible endorsement opportunities??? Millons and Millons of more unearned dollars???? Wake up guys.... he wants to be the next John Elway with the commercials & everything and a QB that isn't liked will have alot less opportunities..... common sense guys.... Line up and drink the Brew that Jake is serving you up!!!!! Ahhh the Mountain air.... refreshing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

do not know if many of you were watching the rattlers game on sunday..but it was against the colorado arena league team that is owned by elway...and guess who was sitting next to elway for the entire game? jake. they interviewed him but I had it on split screen with no volume..and I missed what he said..seems they are pals now - they kept flashing the camera on them. wonder if elway is going to teach jake how to read defenses?

Endorsment's for what!? If it were for endorsments the ad would have been run in Denver. What the heck does he have to gain by running this here?

It was a class move from a class guy who did absolutly nothing but good things in the community the whole time he was here. His on field performance can be questioned but his off field activities can't.

Listen, it's pretty simple guys.... It's about Marketability.....and that can translate to Millons of dollars..... If he is perceived in a negative light, what company will want him to endorse products, not as many as if he is seen in a positive light. It's that simple.....He is just covering his arse, nothing more. Stop glorifying the guy...........

Whos glorifying anything. people are saying thanks for something that was a class move and didnt have to be done PERIOD!

Jake has and always will be loved in the PHX area he did not need to do this to have marketability.

While people wanted him gone as a player, most if not alll knew he was a good person and was always a fan favorite! Your conspiracy theory just doesnt jive!
