The New York Knicks have begun the head coaching search after firing Tom Thibodeau, who led them to their best season in the 21st century.
Officially, the Knicks have not announced a list of candidates, and everything is speculative at this point, although with the big market and star-studded roster, it's safe to assume that New York will have its pick.
With established head coaches likely already on the radar, the Knicks have been urged to go in a different direction.

While Mike Budenholzer, Taylor Jenkins, Michael Malone, Jay Wright, Jeff Van Gundy, and Dan Hurley all have head coaching experience, former players have emerged as faoirtes in recent years.
With no experience, JJ Redick took over the Los Angeles Lakers, and players like Chris Paul are expected to pursue coaching when their playing days are up.
Rajon Rondo, after a successful NBA career as a high-level point guard, became a volunteer assistant on Doc Rivers' Milwaukee Bucks, and he could be ready for the bright lights.
"I think he would be the perfect guy for the job," said DeMarcus Cousins of Rondo. "I think JJ is a really good coach, but if we praise JJ for his level of IQ and his understanding of the game, Rondo is light years ahead of him. So when it comes to any coaching job, I think his name should be in the hat. He's a winner. He knows the game. He's also a great teacher of the game."
Cousins and Rondo played together on the Sacramento Kings, and Rondo helped facilitate Cousins' best NBA seasons.
While there is certainly validity to having Rondo on the sidelines, he has no experience whatsoever, and on a veteran Knicks team, his job would be more about managing personalities and minutes than drawing up plays.
