No. 21 Florida baseball (35-18, 13-14 SEC) will wrap up the regular season in a ranked showdown hosting No. 16 Alabama (39-13, 15-12 SEC) in a three-game series that begins on May 15.
The Florida Gators have won five straight SEC series and 15 of their last 19 overall.
Sophomore righty Liam Peterson (8-2, 3.81 ERA) will start the opening game of the series against Alabama righty Tyler Fay (0-2, 5.54 ERA).
Peterson is coming off throwing four scoreless innings on May 10 at Texas in a game that included a two-hour, six-minute rain delay during the top of the fifth inning. He didn't pitch after the delay.
Offensively, several players have picked up the slack with shortstop Colby Shelton out with a hamate bone injury, including infielder Bobby Boser (.319, 14 home runs, 51 RBIs), infielder Brendan Lawson (.316, 9 home runs, 54 RBIs), designated hitter/catcher Brody Donay (.303, 14 home runs, 31 RBIs) and catcher Luke Heyman (.301, 13 home runs, 44 RBIs).
Another emerging hitter for UF is outfielder Hayden Yost, who has gone 8 for 20 over his last two SEC series with two home runs, 11 RBI and nine runs scored.
