The New England Patriots' dynamic quarterback and receiver duo of Drake Maye and Stefon Diggs were on the field together for the first time for an open OTAs practice on Monday.
Diggs, who is still recovering from the torn ACL injury he suffered with the Houston Texans last season, was a limited participant at practice. He didn't participate in competitive 11-on-11s, but he was on the field for some of the lighter work.
There has been a great deal of anticipation to see how Diggs fits into the Patriots' offense. That question wasn't answered on Monday, but there were teases with Maye throwing him the football.
The Patriots are hopeful that Diggs will be cleared to play in the regular season opener.
His progress to this point has been impressive for a 31-year-old receiver who is still only seven months out from a serious knee injury. Can he get back to being a top-tier wideout and help lift the Patriots' struggling offense?
All eyes will be on the four-time Pro Bowler when the pads come on later in the year.
