There is a notion among some Denver Broncos fans that former quarterback Russell Wilson was not well-liked by his teammates in Denver.
Former defensive lineman Mike Purcell went viral in 2022 after yelling at Wilson on the sideline, and ex-teammate Melvin Gordon also went viral that same season after cameras captured the running back giving the quarterback a displeased look on the sideline.
Perhaps fans read into those incidents too much.
Former Broncos guard Dalton Risner recently took to TikTok to clear the air, calling Wilson "one of my favorite teammates I've ever played with."
"This dude grinded," Risner said in the video. "You wanna know why everyone said he had a parking spot at the Denver Broncos facility? Because Russell Wilson was the first one there and he was the last one to leave. You wanna know why everyone said he had an office? Because Russell Wilson was grinding. Russell Wilson was a great leader."
Rachel Vigil re-shared the video on Twitter/X:
Risner also went viral during the 2022 season after Brett Rypien told the offensive linemen to pick up Wilson after he was knocked down, and Risner responded by shoving the backup quarterback. Risner and Rypien later downplayed the incident.
Wilson lasted one more season in Denver after the 2022 campaign before being released by Sean Payton. The Broncos moved on with Bo Nix in 2024, and Wilson now plays for the New York Giants.
