The Kansas City Chiefs' story will be told like never before with the announcement of their own ESPN Original Series, which is in development.
The new documentary series, filmed throughout the 2024 season, includes unprecedented access into the players' lives on and off the field. It highlights last year's franchise-record 15-win regular season, Kansas City's capture of a third-consecutive Lamar Hunt Trophy as AFC champions, and its third-straight Super Bowl appearance in New Orleans.
The story is told through the lens of current-day players, coaches, and executive leaders, following them on and off the field all season. The series will also weave tales of the team's long and celebrated history, proud culture, and the Chiefs' deeply ingrained place in the Kansas City community and the broader sports landscape.
"ESPN and Disney+ know that sports fans are interested in stories that take them beyond the X's and O's, and this series will explore the legacy of the Chiefs franchise while also showcasing the emotional highs and lows of building a championship-winning team," said Burke Magnus, president of content, ESPN in a statement. "From the brilliance of Patrick Mahomes to the leadership of Andy Reid and the passion of Chiefs Kingdom, this project will showcase the drama, intensity, and heart that make this team a global phenomenon."
The tremendous success, during which the Chiefs made the playoffs every year from 2015 to 2024, won the AFC West Division title nine years running, and appeared in the AFC Championship Game seven years in a row, will be detailed. The ESPN, Disney+, and Skydance Sports production is expected to be another must-see event for Chiefs Kingdom.
