Here we go. The worst happened.

Now it's time to for the FO to fill the hole. Is there any quality LB's out there?

We can't go with just Foote and Minter.

Is Sims quality?

Used to have good speed, but has had injury issues.

Soft.

Is he quality ? Not really.

Quick list (in no particular order):

- Ernie Sims
- Michael Boley
- Pat Angerer - Coming off injury
- Stewart Bradley :)
- Desmond Bishop - Coming off injury
- Jonathan Vilma - Coming off injury
- Nick Barnett - Coming off injury
- Will Witherspoon
- Dan Connor

Not a very pretty picture, as the Cowboys already know.

This makes missing out on Shazier and Mosely in the draft harder to swallow. I think we will be OK vs the run with Minter and Foote but the middle of our D has some questions when it comes to pass protection.

Sims was a high pick that started out alright for Detroit, but kind of faded away the last couple of years. I would be willing to give him an incentive-laden contract.

Hope the Cards have their replacement guy targeted and get that player under contract. We'll also have a chance as teams make cuts later in the pre-season to get someone. The sooner the better since other teams (see Dallas) will be looking to fill roster holes at LB..

Some of the players out there are FA's because of injury. Colts released Pat Angerer after broken foot then knee problems. He played well at ILB with his best work before the Colts switched to a 3-4. Like to have him brought in for a look-see.

Gotta have faith in our coaching staff to mix-match players to the situtation. On running downs, go with our thumpers at ILB. On passing downs, move one of the OLB to ILB to compete in downfield pass coverage.

Our game planning last year was great and our coaching staff made our guys look good even when we were mismatched on paper. I believe the coaches will make up for the loss of DW with both scheme and any replacement guy brought in.

I liked Sims coming out of the draft. He's obviously not going to produce to the level of Washington. Probably not even close. But the pickings are slim and we need bodies at ILB.

The other options are equally as underwhelming

Paris Lenon lives in Chandler Az. He is a proven leader and would provide some solid depth at ILB.
