Dylan Larkin will be headed to Italy next month.
His inclusion on the U.S . men's hockey roster was a lock even before it was made official on Friday, Jan. 2 during NBC's "Today" show. The 2026 Olympic Winter Games will take place Feb. 6-22, 2026, in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. The men's tournament starts Feb. 11 in Milan.
Larkin is the only Detroit Red Wings player on the roster. Patrick Kane had hoped to earn a third shot at a gold medal, but injuries derailed the 37-year-old's chances. Alex DeBrincat's impressive performance — 21 goals among 41 points in 42 games — wasn't enough to get a nod.

Larkin has 38 points for the Wings. He has represented the U.S. multiple times internationally, including the World Championships in 2015, '16, '17, '18, and '19, and last year's 4 Nations Face-Off.
The 2026 Winter Games mark the first time NHL players have participated in the Winter Games since 2014. Team USA, which is in Group C, will open against Latvia on Feb. 12, then play Denmark on Feb. 14 and Germany on Feb. 15. Wings defenseman Moritz Seider was already named to Germany's team in June.
