My girlfriend asked me why I carried a sword around the house. I told her it was because of Mimics. I laughed, she laughed, the table laughed. I killed the table. Good times.

my buddy is DMing his first ever campaign. He has this Paladin and apparently the player is a bit of an ass.
So I am trying to sell him on having said Paladin come across a +2 codpiece of defense.... thats a mimic.

I usually played rogues and I loved effing with any paladin that I came across. Although, throughout my childhood, my favorite character was a paladin. When I got older, I turned to the darker side. Lol.

I play a Ranger/Rogue right now. But its a stylistic thing. He has stolen a couple things but he really aint a thief.... he is a business man. Owns a string of Inns and casinos.
In combat situations he likes to stay waaaaaaayy over there and just send his regards with exploding arrows... since most spells max at 120 feet, having a 600 foot range is nice.

You should always have at least one character with the last name of Sweeny. That way when they're describing the battle you get to hear things like, "you have just been put under an illusion spell by Joel's weenie."

To be clear, I always conceptually loved dungeons and dragons. Read the entire monster manual. But there were so many rules. I used to be DM with my brother and buddy. They would roll the dice and I’d just make up whatever I wanted to have happen to them. I don’t think they ever cared whether I was playing by the rules or not because it was all still entertaining. They always died.

sweet. That really opens the field.
personally, I couldnt commit. Im autistic and Bi-Polar so Im kinda like a box of chocolates. Plus I do my D&D podcast already.

but we have several knowledgeable guys...a few even have real personalities.
@cheesebeef could be a choice as well as @kerouac9 for more pragmatism, @Chopper0080 has some knowledge and opinions worth sharing none of these guys are exceptionally old, so the technology shouldnt be an issue... @SoonerLou could be a good choice as well.

Same. I would always DM and would just make **** up after the roll. As far as I could tell everyone died in every encounter based on the rolls. LOL

watched the movie today.

as a movie...7/7.5 great casting, good acting, dazzling effects, well done cinematography

as a D&D movie... solid 9..... stuck to the lore well, was loaded with easter eggs,...felt just like a campaign.... but didnt get too in your face corny with it.

the action was well done but didnt give me that excited feeling... the comedy was great,...and the seriousness and drama was effective. They covered quite a few D&D races, human, teifling, elf, dragonborn, arakokra, tabaxi, halfling...and they stuck to game mechanics and action economy fairly well...at one point I specifically noted a failed con check as it was happening.

There are many ways to spend 2 hours. This is not the worst one. I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to seeing it again now that I know what to expect.
