Duke softball starts its run toward the Women's College World Series as host of the Durham Regional to open the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Devils (38-16) enter the tournament as the No. 14 overall seed. Duke will open play at Duke Softball Stadium against Howard (31-18) at Noon ET (ACC Network) on Friday, May 16. The Devils and Bison are meeting for the second time in program history. The programs played earlier this season, with Duke earning a 13-1 run-rule victory.

Georgia (31-20) and Coastal Carolina (41-17) are the other teams in the Durham Regional. The winner of the Durham Regional will advance to the Super Regional round against the winner of the Gainesville Regional, which features No. 3 Florida (43-14), Mercer (38-24), Georgia Tech (27-22) and Florida Atlantic (44-10).
