Dolphins Trade Three-Time All-Pro Jalen Ramsey to Steelers originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After months of speculation, the Miami Dolphins have finally traded All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. This trade came after general manager Chris Grier announced the team was moving on from Ramsey in the offseason, and is the third time Ramsey has been traded in his NFL career.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Dolphins have traded Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The deal lands the Steelers a new starting cornerback, and leaves the Dolphins with their room needing more.
The move comes just a year after Ramsey signed a new 3-year extension worth $72.3 million. Heading to Pittsburgh, Ramsey is also getting a $1.5 million raise, which means Ramsey will earn $26.6 million in 2025.
The Dolphins moved off Ramsey after just two years in Miami. Ramsey made the Pro Bowl in 2023 but missed it in 2024. With the Dolphins, Ramsey had 5 interceptions and 16 passes defended across 27 games.
During his two-year tenure, Ramsey was one of the Dolphins’ best defensive players. He helped make the Dolphins defense, which struggled at times, a middle-of-the-pack unit.

Pro Football Focus had the Dolphins unit as the 18th highest graded unit for the 2024 season. In the 2023 season, Ramsey helped the Dolphins defense be the fourth-highest graded unit across all of football.
The Dolphins sent tight end Hunter Long and a third-round pick in 2023 to the Los Angeles Rams for Ramsey. Now, two years later, the Dolphins trade Ramsey to the Steelers.
After months of debate, Ramsey is finally out of Miami and heading north to the Steelers. It was one of the most highly anticipated moves of the offseason, and now, it's finally happened. Ramsey has been traded from the Dolphins.
While his time in Miami lasted just two years, he helped the Dolphins' defense become one of the better units in the league. But now, they'll move on without him, and look to bolster their cornerback depth before the beginning of the 2025 season.
