Diamondbacks RHP Merrill Kelly (8-5, 3.34) vs. Cardinals RHP Miles Mikolas (5-6, 4.94).

At Chase Field:
Kelly gave up one run in five innings in a win over the Angels on the final day before the All-Star break. He labored through the outing, walking four and needing 98 pitches, but gave up just one hit and struck out six. … In his past three starts, he has a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings. … Kelly has been getting terrific results with his cutter, holding opposing hitters to a .129 average and .286 slugging. The expected numbers are higher, but it seems to be a pitch that largely avoids barrels. … Mikolas fired 5 2/3 scoreless innings against the Nationals on July 10 in what was his most recent start. … He threw well against the Diamondbacks on May 23, giving up just one run in six innings. … 3B Eugenio Suarez has hit him well, going 7 for 17 (.412) with a double and two homers.
