D-backs
The D-backs still have work to do in order to complete their lineup for Opening Day with one big piece still unknown. They are looking to either move Ketel Marte to center and acquire a second baseman or acquire a center fielder and leave Marte at second. How that plays out could will reshape this lineup. One thing to note about the catching spot: while Carson Kelly figures to get a lot of time behind the plate, the D-backs also like to rotate their catchers, so Alex Avila and John Ryan Murphy will also play. -- Steve Gilbert

LINEUP IF SEASON STARTED TODAY

1. Ketel Marte, 2B
2. Eduardo Escobar, 3B
3. David Peralta, LF
4. Steven Souza Jr., RF
5. Jake Lamb, 1B
6. Nick Ahmed, SS
7. Alex Avila, C
8. Jarrod Dyson, CF

That lineup may not even strike fear into local JUCO teams.

It looks like this season may be on par with the Suns and Cards campaigns this year, unwatchable for me.:(. Hope not, though.

Its a good thing for Kendrick and ownership that they are raking in that television money because they ain't going to make a profit from ticket sales.

Some dirty so-and-so has evidently commandeered a helicopter and sprinkled a bunch of Disappointment Dust over (most of) the Valley's pro sports teams.

Oh well, I still get to enjoy my 41st year in Paradise despite the local sports situation -- Kendrick and his expensive baseball card collection and Sarver and his San Diego banks counting their millions.

No sweltering, humid summers. Or frigid, humid winters. Or hurricanes. Or five days of rain per week. Or swimming limited to two months per year (vs. six here). Or high cost of living. Or heavy traffic (no matter how much we think ours is).

Even with our small minded owners, my heart belongs to the Valley of the Sun.
