The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned struggling outfielder Jake McCarthy to Triple-A Reno on Monday, according to the team's transactions list.

The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned struggling outfielder Jake McCarthy to Triple-A Reno on Monday, according to the team’s transactions list.

McCarthy entered 2025 coming off his most complete season as a big leaguer, playing a career-high 142 games in 2024 with a batting line of .285/.349/.400 with eight home runs and 25 steals.

He began this year as cold as anyone in franchise history, however, setting a club record by starting the season 0-for-24.

Good move. I heard last year when Geno was slumping so bad, he was 1 game away from being moved, twice. They luckily stayed with him because he has always been streaking.
