He is another tweet about Bumgarner coming to Arizona.

Nobody has mentioned Diamondbacks much in the Bumgarner pursuit. But if their interest is legitimate, Phoenix would be a very desirable landing spot for Bum. He has horses there. Loves the area.

D-Backs approaching this one the right way, in my opinion. If he is not cost-prohibitive, they could do worse for a stop-gap ace, but he is no longer good enough to tie up major long term dollars.

Burns & Gambo think if he signs here we deal Ray and save $10M and get an OF possibly in the process.
That would be nice! :)

Especially if it means that we would have an ace. And Ketel and Escobar
would no longer be men-without-a-home and these ignorant triple and
quadruple switches involving 1B, 2B, 3B, CF and RF would end so the
team could build chemistry.

And the same with a lead and backup Catcher, so the starters, middle
relieving and closing staff could do the same.

As I posted during the season, Torey's BADD (baseball attention deficit
disorder) holds the team back. Every day is a new beginning. Every game
is Spring Training.

Great get for you guys. Tough being a Giants fan right now.

He’s not the ace that he was, but the guy is a competitor. No one else Id rather give the ball to in a big game.

He’s been trash away from SF in recent years. Very odd signing.

I'm mixed on this.

On the plus side, the deal is relatively team-friendly for a Top Two starter, he has been lights-out at Chase field, and he demonstrated last year that he remains capable of durability as an innings-eater. Plus he continues to hit well for a pitcher.

On the minus side, he no longer has ace stuff, has steadily rising E.R.A., BAA and WHIP numbers, and has struggled away from Chase Field and AT&T Park.

Basically a less effective but younger, less temperamental and better teammate version of Zack Greinke at half the annual price but double the remaining length of time.

Side Note: Would love to see them hang on to Robbie Ray and see if Mad Bum can teach him a thing or two...
