Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman suffered a high-ankle sprain in the first half of the Chargers' Week 1 game against the Chiefs, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport said that Perryman is expected to miss some time and is considered week-to-week. He added that high-ankle sprains can take 4-6 weeks to heal.
While Perryman is sidelined, Troy Dye is likely to fill in as the starter alongside Daiyan Henley. When Perryman left the game, Dye came in and was on the field for 33 of Los Angeles' 61 defensive snaps.
Perryman re-signed with the Chargers on a one-year, $3.6 million contract this past March. He was arrested on August 1 on a felony weapons charge following a traffic stop where deputies found multiple firearms in his vehicle. However, the charges were dropped days later.
In his first season back with the Bolts in 2024, Perryman totaled 55 tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss in 11 games.
