Penn State may be getting déjà vu after a second Nittany Lion defensive end committed to transfer to North Carolina.
After two seasons at Penn State, Joseph Mupoyi has signed with the Tarheels out of the portal, according to multiple reports. Mupoyi redshirted his first season and has three years of eligibility remaining.
The news comes just over a month after fellow Nittany Lion transfer Smith Vilbert committed to Bill Belichick and the Tarheels as a grad transfer. Now, the duo will reunite in Chapel Hill.
Mupoyi wasn't projected to see much playing time this season, slotted behind names like Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zuriah Fisher, Max Granville and Jaylen Harvey. He appeared in just two games last season in garbage time, making just one tackle and recording one assist.
Though he lacks college production, Mupoyi was originally a 4-star recruit out of high school, ranked as the No. 40 edge rusher and No. 2 recruit from Connecticut. He wasn't recruited by UNC originally, but was pursued by several big-name programs, including Michigan, Miami and Auburn.
