Suns center Deandre Ayton is facing a 25-game suspension for violating NBA’s Anti-Drug policy with a positive test for a diuretic, league sources tell ESPN. The NBA informed Ayton and Suns of looming suspension tonight.

I'd like to hear more about the "unintentional ingestion".

I guess we will.

WTF...

How is a diuretic a banned substance? Is it supposed to be some kind of drug masking agent? Not getting this at all.

they can be used as masking agents to flush your system before a drug test.

guess the silver lining here is to compare situation to PP over on the Cardinals. No one was rushing to that guy's defense when he got busted. At least it seems like there COULD be a chance this was an honest mistake, or at least the union is going to fight for it to look like one. the NFLPA didn't do jack-squat when PP was caught red-handed.

Yeah, theoretically... I guess.

How about caffeine drinks? Caffeine pills? Blood pressure medication? Lots of legitimate or innocuous uses of diuretics that don't involve drug masking.

Oh....holy @#$@#$. This team is snake bitten. Figures. At least no other substances were found. That either means it was an honest mistake or it's a newer designer substance that cannot be detected yet.

I really hope they reduce this suspension considerably and this was just an honest mistake.

UGH!

Anyone in the NBA ever been suspended for diuretics before? I can't recall ever hearing of such.

But don't tell me, let me guess - the NBA has just suddenly decided to make an "example" of Ayton for the rest of the league.

it's not "theoretically" you guess. There's a reason certain medicines like that are on the banned substance list. they don't just put them on there on a whim or dare.

and if you're stupid enough not to know what's on the list and take it, you get what you deserve.

this is infuriating. If something is on the banned substance list - DON'T FREAKING TAKE IT. Absence of intelligence does not grant you the assumption of innocence. In fact it does just the opposite.

man, I am PISSED. I had a great time watching last night's game and REALLY enjoyed the way Ayton played on D. This sucks.
