The Cowboys brought back a former safety on Tuesday, but some are wondering if they should make it a twofer. Julius Wood was a camp darling in 2024 and will certainly bring enticing depth, but news that the Panthers have cut Israel Mukuamu is perhaps even more intriguing, given his 50 actual game appearances while wearing the star.

Potential trades were the talk of the league, with several high-profile player swaps taking place. Jerry Jones noted that the club's "Open for Business" sign is always out, and a deal made between the Harbaugh Brothers could trickle down to star linebacker Roquan Smith being available for Dallas to make a run at.

Other Cowboys items of note include a slap-on-the-wrist fine for Jones after his one-finger salute in New York (even though he called it "inadvertent"), Kenny Clark revealing how things are finally coming together for the Dallas defense, Javonte Williams's resurgence taking everyone- except his coaches- by surprise, and Deion Sanders undergoing yet another medical procedure.

Over in Charlotte, the Panthers are suddenly faced with a running back dilemma after Rico Dowdle's monster day, talented young wide receiver Jalen Coker is back at practice, and homegrown hero Xavier Legette looks to build off the emotional lift he gave the club in last week's come-from-behind win over Miami. Defensively, rookie Nic Scourton is exceeding expectations; he and Fort Worth native A'Shawn Robinson could pose problems when the Cowboys come to town.

In the AFC, the Browns sending Joe Flacco to Cincinnati was the news of the day, but what does the development mean for would-be QB Shedeur Sanders? Baltimore picked up C.J. Gardner-Johnson (familiar to Cowboys fans after his years with Philadelphia) to give a boost on defense, Cardinals' head coach Jonathan Gannon got hit with a fine for roughing up one of his own players, and when is the best time to have a bye? The Cowboys drew the supposedly "ideal" Week 10 break this year, but does a bye that's too early- or too late- really make a difference?
