The Christian right's hostility to science is definitely going to get people killed

Epic sacrifice. Many so called Christians could learn something from this.

Back in my youth I was in a pentecostal group. While I remember them shaking their collective heads at other beliefs and warning us about their devious ways, I really don't remember them demeaning science to such a degree as we see now.

I grew up in the Assembly of God Church, I don't recall anything like this either. My experience with Christians then differs so greatly from what I see today.

Churches that simply preach the Bible are a vanishing breed.

    I disagree.

There is a proliferation of non-denominational "bible" churches.

    They have grown rapidly.

    Some are networked, some not.

They have drawn people who are fed up with the old churches for a variety of reasons and just want to focus on the scripture

Under certain interpretations and viewpoints the scripture can saw some pretty crazy things and can be used to manipulate people in many ways

Scripture is a fallback against science the same way it had been used against gay rights, a tool in racism, etc

There isn't a qualification to having a congregation aside from having the ability to get people to listen to and follow you

It's been my experience that churches that only preach the Bible are hard to find. I'm pleased to hear there are more. I think the New Testament is harder to manipulate.

A lot of right wing churches would self identify as "bible" churches

I think it's one of those things that looks one way at a surface level..... Then you look in and great what they are actually messaging

OK... Enough of all of the crap being posted and spewed in this thread. Here is the proper and powerful truth that most Christians believe:

I didn't stay with it long enough to discuss his message but I found him quite comfortable to watch and listen to.
