if this is redundant merge into bigger thread but i didn't want to divert that from valuable info.

My question is am I the only one completely baffled by how religious people are reacting to this? My FB feed is full of people, Catholics, Christian etc saying go to church, pray for this, follow god he won't let you down etc. They're all talking about the virus.

how come none of them ever wonder if god can protect us from the virus, why did god allow the virus in the first place?

Imagine all the illnesses we would have cured by now if we had eradicated religion hundreds of years ago.

The LDS church, to their credit, have cancelled all services worldwide

A lot of the other is just different degrees of the same old noise

Got an email from our pastor today. They've canceled the Nifty Nineties celebration of people 90 or older scheduled on March 17. She is also attending a webinar being hosted by the AZ Department of Health for faith communities tomorrow. We'll see what happens after that.

My pastor is a smart lady. She was a lawyer before she joined the ministry. I'm sure she will make good decisions going forward.

I must point out that it was a few individuals on one church that is responsible for South Korea’s current epidemic.

    I’m a non-evangelical Christian.

Jesus told me to wash my hands and help my neighbor.

Shocking... not! There are large %'s of Christians who play the "I don't live in fear" card... and of course, these are by & large, the same people who would follow Donald Trump off a cliff.
So no real surprise here at all.

I guess the baffling part to me is they're saying god will protect them from the virus if they pray but it doesn't dawn on them that if they believe that, they have to admit that god allowed the virus to exist in the first place.

That somehow the panic is bad, trust in god, but it's completely rational to believe god created a virus that's going to kill LOTS of people, just to test our faith.

Look religion was never pushed on me so I can’t relate to the people who are entrenched in that world but people who believe in the “God won’t let you down” philosophy after all the messed up stuff throughout history then Coronavirus is way low on the crazy scale. Not sure if you were generalizing or referring to the meeting of large groups in close settings.

Both actually. That they're doing stuff that directly puts them in harms way(the large groups). And that they think god is going to protect them from it. If god has that much power then god allowed corona in the first place. Which of course is another one of those crazy god created Covid 19 to punish sinners, when it's mainly killing old people and children. If it was killing sinners, the GOP would be in real trouble.
