Community in Placer County meets to discuss steps after the River Fire

On Sunday, community members gathered in Colfax to get an update from officials about next steps as containment efforts continue on the River Fire. The meeting was hosted by fire and law enforcement officials. They addressed community questions about the quickly spreading fire. The Placer Sierra Fire Safety Council said, for some, evacuation zones were unclear. "It was confusing for a lot of people that Nevada County has one system, [and] Placer County has a different system. I didn't even know what zone I lived in," said Lauraine Bacon of the Fire Council. "You know, I had to do some research what zone I was in." The seven member council meets the fourth Thursday of every month to evaluate high fire threat in the area.
