The Washington Commanders added to their offensive line room with the first-round selection of Oregon stud Josh Conerly Jr.

Coming to a franchise that is on the up, Conerly Jr. will add some depth and potentially start in his rookie season as he looks to serve as Laremy Tunsil's understudy at left tackle, and even provide some competition to Brandon Coleman at right tackle too.

So there are a couple of ways Conerly Jr. can be used in his first season.

We often hear that where you get drafted matters, and for CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson, the current setup and trajectory of Washington under Dan Quinn make it a great spot for Conerly Jr. to begin his NFL career.

"I didn't have Conerly as a first-round pick, but that was mostly because I thought he was a few years away from being a starter," Wilson said. "That said, he's one of the best athletes in this class and if he develops, he could be special. The fact that he's going to a great organization and doesn't need to be rushed on the field makes this even better."

The culture that Quinn is building, coupled with having Jayden Daniels at quarterback and the aura around the franchise, it does feel, from the outside at least, that Conerly Jr. is going to a place that will maximize his talent.

Of course, this is all speculative, but being able to learn from a five-time Pro Bowler in Tunsil, and potentially start here and there feels like a good first season for Josh, instead of having to be thrown in the deep end against the pass rushing monsters that lurk in the NFC East's waters.

You can never have enough offensive linemen in the NFL, and with Conerly Jr., Daniels gets a good backup, who could potentially develop into his long-term blindside protector sooner rather than later.

And in truth, he's under no pressure to be that in Year 1.
