Texas HC Tom Herman said that there is "no way" that he is ready to name sophomore QB Shane Buechele the starter for 2017.

"Shane knows we have a lot of confidence in him, and Shane did a lot of things really well this spring," Herman said. "But to say he's won the job in 12 padded practices, when he doesn't even get hit, that would be a bit premature." The 6-foot-1, 191-pound Buechele -- who started all 12 games last season -- put up numbers in Saturday's spring game, completing 23-of-39 passes for 369 yards, two passing touchdowns, an interception and a rushing touchdown. True freshman QB Sam Ehlinger also took a significant number of snaps in the scrimmage, ultimately completing 10-of-31 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown. Herman has indicated that he does not plan on naming a starter until August camp.

ACC brings football title game back to North Carolina, extends contract
The ACC has joined the NCAA in putting North Carolina back on the books to host events
The NCAA announced its return to North Carolina this week with the release of future NCAA Tournament sites, and now the ACC has added to the state's athletic calendar with a date for the 2017 football championship game and an extension on the league's agreement with Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

"We are pleased that ACC neutral site championships will return to the state of North Carolina beginning with the 2017-18 academic year," ACC Commissioner John Swofford said. "We value all of our partners in North Carolina and appreciate their support and cooperation. We are thrilled to renew our relationships with so many terrific people, outstanding cities and first-class venues."

After one year in Orlando, ACC title game will be back in Charlotte this December on Saturday, Dec. 2.
