That went pretty much as I thought.

Chiefs roster isn't great on paper. Kelce is getting over the hill. The D line is just Jones. All their WRs are the same guy.

Chargers are a good team.

I'd hate to see the Chargers with Slater back...

couple thoughts:

1. Andy Reid knows how to get his players ready for game 1 by playing them lots in the pre-season!! maybe not.

2. A shame what the Chiefs have done to Mahommes

sub par tackles. Simmons might be good, but starting a rookie who missed most of his last year in college tells you where they are at.

WRs who are JAGS. I get its a function of the $ spent on him, Kelce, Jones ... but that passing game is a snooze fest. Mostly a 5 yard or less per attempt offense with the occasional shot. I didnt see a lot of 12-20 air yard attempts.

week one is always an over reaction, but still

Harbaughs aggressive game plan and continuing on with it won the game.

yeah...I really kinda see the Chiefs battling the Chargers for second place in their division. Broncos are going to win it this year

Maybe but Nix is still just in a second year and a lot of quarterbacks regress. Their overall offensive weapons don’t look like anything special to me. Yeah their defense is tits, but is that enough? I’m not anointing them just yet.

So they’re the AFC version of the Cards but better?

Chiefs have regressed. Mahomes has zero weapons outside an aging Kelley and a 30 year old back...and their defense is one or two injuries away from being the 2024 Cardinals.
Broncos are well coached by an offensive coach...having the strong defense just means he can let his DC handle it and put his energy into maximizing what they have on offense.
Chargers are solid all the way around...all three phases...and we'll coached... I just don't think they have it in them yet to make a run. But with Harbaugh you never know.
Raiders got Pete. An All Pro TE...and an awesome rookie back...and Maxx Crosby...that will win you a few games...but the best they can hope for is to be the ******** that block somebody else from making the wildcard...I'm guessing 7 wins

Add all that up and Denver is the only squad in the division with a mix of star power, untapped youth, strong coaching, and a top 5 defense... they will win the AFCWest unless KC makes a trade for someone like Jordan Addison or something...anyone who can replace Hollywood Browns drops with catches.
But even then...KC doesn't have the defense to carry an offense that doesn't put up 30 points every week...they have a crap ton of work to do if they want the Reid/Mahomes Dynasty to continue....with the division adding Harbaugh, Payton, and Carroll in the past couple years the easy ride to a division title is over.
The AFCWest rivals the NFCWest for coaching power...it's just that ours are the young guys and they have the old guys.

First game of the year and Chiefs will figure it out like they always do.

We will see if the Bolts are for real.

The Chargers looked pretty well coached, pretty good team that could win that division. Too many said it was over when Slater went down. No problem, Harbaugh drafts 6'9" Alt and moves him to LT. Bunch of talking heads were pumping up KC, but who is Mahomes going to throw to during their brutal schedule. It wouldn't surprise me if after game 8; the Chiefs are a .500 team and third place. The Chargers maybe win that division. I'll have to see Denver actually do it after Buffalo destroyed them in the playoffs. Should be interesting...

Fair points, but remember that Xavier worthy went out after three plays, and Rashee Rice is suspended for six games. Those two may not be All-Pros, but the Chiefs' offense works a LOT better with them in the lineup.
